Small Press Fair at Paradiso, Amsterdam
Next week I’ll be participating in the Beurs van Bijzondere Uitgevers, a small press fair for literature and artists’ books that takes place yearly at Paradiso in Amsterdam. You’ll find my table right at the entrance when you walk into the main room on the ground floor. Also some of my poetry books that were published by Druksel will be available at the fair. Druksel’s table is in front of the stage.

Wiederholungszwang
My new limited edition bookwork Wiederholungszwang will be launched later this week at Offprint Paris. Wiederholungszwang, or repetition compulsion, is a term used for repetitive behavior in which a person repeats certain traumatic events. The book is made up out of a single image, a found lantern slide, that becomes a scene of repetition when it is fragmented, folded, repeated and mirrored.
The edition is limited to 28 numbered copies that are inkjet printed in b&w, and handbound in a stab binding with folds on the foredge.

The book will be launched at Offprint Paris, November 14-16 (École des Beaux-Arts, 14 Rue Bonaparte, Paris). You’ll find me and my books at the table I’m sharing with Joachim Schmid.

The New York Art Book Fair
From September 25 to 28 I’m participating in The New York Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1. I’m pleased to again share a table with Joachim Schmid and we look forward to seeing you at this table if you can make it to the fair. We’ll be in the Small Press Dome, booth B17.
My new book They Were Like Poetry will be launched at the fair, there is a booksigning planned at our table on September 26 at 5PM.
The Gospel gospelized
De Volkskrant chose The Gospel of the Photographer as one of the four highlights of the annual small publishers fair at Paradiso in Amsterdam.

Offprint during Paris Photo
Next weekend, from November 14-17, the fourth edition of Offprint will be held during Paris Photo. I won’t be there personally this year, but a selection of my books, including the recent The Gospel of the Photographer and The Kingdom, can be found at the table of Johan Deumens Gallery. Also the new edition of In this Dark Wood can be found at J&L Books.
If you were planning to buy books directly from me in Paris, note that I have a special Paris Photo/Offprint discount running from November 11-17 as a compensation for my invisibility this year. In this week you won’t pay any shipping costs on books you order from me. To get this discount please place your order through email, since it won’t show up in the webshop for technical reasons.
Booksigning at Unseen
I’ll be signing my two new books The Kingdom and The Gospel of the photographer today September 26 from 17.00-18.00 at the booth of Johan Deumens Gallery at Unseen Photography Fair in Amsterdam. Looking forward to seeing the other books on view as well, including works from Laurence Aëgerter, Henze Boekhout, Fons Brasser, Charlotte Dumas, Sharon Kivland, Claudia Kölgen, Anouk Kruithof, Peter Spaans, Rein Jelle Terpstra, Bert Teunissen, Liesbeth Touw, Mariken Wessels, Witho Worms and Luuk Wilmering.
The New York Art Book Fair
From September 19 to 22 I will be participating in The New York Art Book Fair. This year I will share a table with Joachim Schmid in the geodesic dome located in the courtyard of MoMA PS1.
Three new books will be available: The Man of the Crowd, The Gospel of the Photographer, and The Kingdom. There will be a postcard set offered with Highlights in the History of The Invisible Book. And the 2013 release of In this Dark Wood will be launched by J&L Books.
On September 20 at 4PM, Chris Burnett and I will talk about In this Dark Wood and present a glimpse into the unique artifact that is the source of the book’s images: the Selle collection of more than one million street vendor photographs taken in San Francisco from the 1940s until the 1970s. A celebration of ephemeral images in a mix of slideshow, reading, and lecture. Presented by J&L Books in The Classroom, curated by David Senior. The Classroom is in the main building at MoMA PS1.
At our table we will also have Chris Burnett signing The Rest of the World on September 20 at 6PM.
Talk at Düsseldorf Photobook Salon
On February 3rd, 1PM, I will give a presentation about my work at the NRW-Forum, Ehrenhof 2, 40479 Düsseldorf. The presentation is part of the Düsseldorf Photobook Salon, curated by Jeff Ladd and Stefanie Armbruster. ABC Artists’ Books Cooperative will have a table at this Salon, you can see my books there too. The Photobook Salon will consist of a book marketplace, book signings, book launches, lectures and an exhibition of books by the American photographer Stephen Shore. Opening hours: Friday, February 1st from 19:00-0.00, Saturday, February 2nd and Sunday, February 3rd from 11:00-19:00.
